Mr. William Willis Cady

William Willis Cady, “Wid” was born of August 25, 1928 in Seattle , WA to Otis and Edna Cady. He passed away on June 17, 2025 in Atascadero, CA. He made it to the ripe old age of 96…almost 97! He had three sisters, Dorothy, Myrtle and Edna, and Myrtle was the one who could not say his name and called him “Wid”, which stuck for the rest of his life. He was a feisty kid, and at the age of twelve, he bought his first car for $25! He did not have a drivers license, but he did have the $25! The family moved to Pasadena, CA in the early 40’s, and when he graduated from High School, his dad pointed out 2 young men in military uniforms and said “ Wid, those are the toughest men on the planet. You do not want to join that branch of the service. The day he turned 18 he enlisted in the Marine Corp. He was disciplined, strong, courageous and proud to serve his country as a Marine. Wid got out of the service, started college and married Lynore Allender in 1950. They had three daughters, Cathy Unfried of Bend, OR, Debbie Chaffee of Windsor, CO, and Sherrie Flores of Atascadero, CA. In 1957 the family moved to San Luis Obispo. He started a career as a plumber, and he worked for Fauss Plumbing, Smee’s Plumbing, before going out on his own with Wid’s Plumbing. He always said if he had to do it over again, he’d become a plumber. He loved what he did. He had hardships in life, with Lynore passing away suddenly in 1967. He would remarry two more times in his life and provided all the care for them as needed before they passed away. He loved to travel, he always had adventures, was a great storyteller and a risk taker. He left us with these thoughts: Work hard Have fun in life, go camping, get a boat, get a dune buggy, go places Have a hobby, photography, gardening, build things ( He could fix anything) Pay your bills, save money, before Dave Ramsey there was Wid Cady Go to church, pay your tithe Be on time, never late If you use something, put it away Last, but not least, love your family. He loved his family, and his “Cady girls”. He was a very loved man, he lived out his faith and walked the talk.
