Lynn Mary Ruth Sullivan Olson

Lynn Mary Ruth Sullivan Olson, 89, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, in San Luis Obispo, California. Born on April 22, 1937 in Chicago, Lynn lived a vibrant and faith filled life devoted to her family, community, and spiritual journey. Lynn's entrepreneurial spirit shone when she and her daughter Erin opened "The Mayors Place," a fun beach shop where she was known as "Lady Lillian". They were in Avila Beach from 1984 to 1989, named after her then-husband Richard Beckstrom, the unofficial Mayor of Avila. She later volunteered at the New Camalodi Hermitage bookshop, cherishing her time with the brothers there. A devoted Catholic confirmed in 1998, Lynn found solace and joy attending Mass at Mission San Luis Obispo and exploring spiritual writings. Her faith led her on a pilgrimage to Israel and a heritage trip to Ireland, which she lovingly referred to as a "blood call." Lynn's love for animals was evident throughout her life. She and her husband Ronald opened a pet shop in Bellflower during the 1960s and later provided professional pet-sitting services. her nurturing nature extended to plants and people alike. She also had a lifelong passion for singing and dancing; as a young girl, she and her brother Chuck performed as "The Sullivans", even tap dancing on the radio after winning a talent show in Chicago. She is survived by her daughter Erin O'Donnell (Don Chase); granddaughters Colleen Stanger (Tielor) and Shannon-Skyler; great granddaughter Francis Stanger; brother Chuck Sullivan; sister Gay Melody Sullivan; Nephew Scott Sullivan, niece Jeannine Bush (Kevin); cousins Russell Phillips, Jean Braddock, and Dawn Stokes; and many cherished members of Dick's extended family. Lynn was predecease by her parents Charles Sullivan and Maybelle-Mabel Phillips and her husband Dick Olson, with whom she shared 24 wonderful years. We would like to Thank the staff of San Luis Post Acute for the wonderful care they gave her the final months of her life. A funeral mass will be held at Mission San Luis Obispo on Wednesday July 29th, 2026 at 10am. Followed by the rite of committal at Old Mission Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at Pig Iron in Templeton. May Lynn's memory bring comfort to all who knew her. And may remembering the sound of her laughter bring a smile to your face.
