Linda Louise Waters Mulks

Linda Louise Waters Mulks, 81 of San Luis Obispo, California, walked into the arms of the Lord on December 16, 2025, at 11:11 PM, in her home, surrounded by her loving family and pets. Linda was born in Harlington, Texas during WW2, to Kathryn (Kay) Lundergan Howley, and Deroncey (Bus) Waters. After the war, they moved back to Ithaca, NY. She was in the Class of 1962 at Ithaca High School where she met the love of her life at the young age of 15. The night they met she wrote in her diary, "Tonight, I met the man I'm going to marry". That was the beginning of a 64-year love story as her husband, Bob (Robin) Mulks and she created a chain of love in a growing family. The first time she met his family was at Bob's sister's wedding. Bob sold one of his Holstein heifers so he could have enough money to buy her a pretty bright purple dress (her favorite color) and himself a new suit. (things a country boy doesn't readily have on hand). With her big bright beautiful smile, genuine heart, and a gift for laughter, it was no surprise that his family fell in love with her too! They married at a young age just out of high school, growing up and growing old together. She was a full supporter of her husband’s corporate career at Continental Telephone (later becoming Contel & GTE) as they were transferred from Ithaca, to Liverpool, NY, then on to Bakersfield, CA, to Reston, VA, then back to Bakersfield where they eventually retired and went on to build their dream home in the hills of San Luis Obispo, CA on the Central Coast since December 5,1995. While living in Bakersfield, skiing became a family sport. They loved it so much, they purchased their family cabin at their heart place, Bear Valley Mt. Reba. Linda created her magic every ski trip to ensure the cabin was filled with family, friends, food, laughter and card games. She even got a part-time job at Benz Ski Chalet to support the family habit. She was unique at the gift of creating a peaceful home, building new friendships and always guiding her children in the journey of each move. Linda loved to be a part of a team, which she displayed so well when they purchased their 1st Fosters Donuts in Bakersfield in 1978. She trained and motivated her children, extended family and many young adults through these donut shops, not only as their manager but as a surrogate mom to many. They developed 12 stores in total in the San Joaquin Valley and the Central Coast. She took her role as a loving Wife, Mom, Grandma/Goppie, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend as a badge of honor. Linda never met a stranger, and when asked what she would want people to know and remember about her, her response was that she "loved people and just wanted to help those in need". She took every opportunity to do so whether you were an employee at their family business, a stranger, or a stray animal, she extended her heart and a helping hand and did so with such grace and mercy. After she had been a two-time cancer survivor and walked beside and through her daughter's cancer journey, Linda's heart and mission was in helping children with cancer. Her daughter, Jenny, founded the nonprofit Along Comes Hope® in 2013, where Linda continued to grow her angel wings and served as the (CHO) Chief Hope Officer of Along Comes Hope®, helping children with cancer. She embraced these children and their families, heart and soul. She was no stranger at giving the gift of HOPE. Even in her final days, she prayed to be healed stating, “I have so much still to do here and so many people I want to help.” Even in her time of need, she had a heart filled with hope and wanted to serve others. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23) Linda is survived by her loving & devoted husband of 64 years, Robert Bowne (Bob / Robin) Mulks. Her 3 Children; Lori Tisinger (husband Doug), Tim Mulks (wife Lisa) & Jenny Mulks Wieneke, Her 6 Grandchildren; Nicholas Tisinger, Alexander Tisinger, Olivia Erlewine, Christina Mulks, Brandon Mulks & Gabriel Wieneke. Her 2 Great Grandchildren; Ronin & Zyah. Her 2 siblings, Mark Waters (wife Renge) & Julie Egnoto, and her beloved German Shepherd, Benny & grandpup, Cobey. She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father. As we began writing this closing sentence, it started with, "Linda loved", then we realized that is the sentence. Linda Loved. Ohhhh she LOVED so deeply and we hope all who knew her will carry on her legacy of love and service to others, in her honor. Linda Loved!
