“Consider it pure joy…whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance” James 1:2 We feel that our Lord Jesus Christ blessed Rick with tolerable discomfort throughout his journey. Rick felt cancer was a ‘wake-up call’ to get off the middle of the fence, in regards to his service to his Lord and Savior. All who visited him through his journey, were encouraged by Rick to “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved” as stated in Acts 16:31. We are all sinful and need a Savior. God loves you, no matter what you’ve done and offers a way for you to be saved. Rick was born February 2, 1950, in Atascadero General Hospital to Joseph and Barbara Elisararras. He attended grammar school in Santa Margarita and Atascadero’s Santa Rosa Elementary. Rick was a graduate of Atascadero High School, class of 1968. Rick enjoyed racing motorcycles, both novice and professional, along racing Super Modified cars at Atascadero Speedway. Rick married Shelley Sawyer in 1970 and was happy to celebrate 50 years of marriage on August 8, 2020. He thought it was funny to tell people that Shelley said “You’re not dying until after our anniversary!” Born to Rick and Shelley were three children: Chuck, Kacy, and Colleen. They were also blessed with 4 grandsons. Rick worked for local excavation contractors until 1974 when he was able to get his contractor’s license and start Rick Elisarraras Excavation Company. Rick mentored many young folks throughout this time regarding strong work ethics, problem solving on job sites, as well as overall encouragement to do their best. Rick loved his family and friends, and was generous to those in need. We miss him and his smile but we know a little part of him lives on in us all. Rick is survived by his wife, Shelley, sons Chuck and Kacy, daughter-in law, Carrie, daughter Colleen Elisarraras-Goodman, son-in-law, Mike Goodman, grandchildren, Cameron, Taylor, Keaton, and Luke, brother Bob Elisarraras, sister-in-law, Elta Elisarraras, mother-in-law, Jerry Sawyer, sister-in-law, Tawnie Sawyer, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. obituary & service: Graveside service March 6th at 11am will be held at Santa Margarita Cemetery (606 East Pozo Rd, Santa Margarita, CA 93453) Reception to immediately follow at Atascadero Gospel Chapel (corner of Atascadero & Curbaril Avenues) In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of the following: Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) P.O.
