October 10, 1932 - January 19, 2022
Irene B. Limon, 89, of San Luis Obispo, California, went home to be with her Lord on 19 January 2022 from underlying conditions triggered by COVID. In 1951, Irene moved to San Luis Obispo from Jalisco, Mexico after her marriage to Frank at the young age of 18. Irene never wavered in her love for husband and family. Irene had five children and suffered the loss of her beloved eldest daughter Linda too soon. Irene walked to work for over 20 years at the Sands Motel then finally took her husband’s advice to work in Housekeeping at Sierra Vista Hospital. In 1991 Irene joined Frank in the golden-years of retirement, where they enjoyed many vacations visiting Irene’s family (four sisters and one brother), enjoying Island life in Hawaii, or just taking the RV out for a spin to National Parks. After Frank’s death in 2005, Irene started a new phase of life. She loved being cared for by her three daughters (Irene, Carmen, Angela) and son (Frank) but always gave more in love than she received. Tell Irene there was a trip coming and the ever present smile on her face got even bigger--- did not matter if trip was to favorite spot of Palm Springs or just a drive to McDonald’s for a daily ice cream cone. Irene never passed up an opportunity for a sugar treat! Irene was a woman of prayer and deep faith who was blessed to have been touched by miraculous healing at least twice in her life. She was happy to call both Old Mission and St Patrick’s her Parish family but was equally happy to share wonderful services within the faith communities of her children. Irene’s life was a testimony to prayer and gratitude. Irene, a beautiful woman, inside and out, is survived by her four children, two sons and one daughter-in-law, ten grand-children (and their six spouses), and soon to be six great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass Service will be held at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church on 18 February at 10:00 AM then private burial at Old Mission Cemetery.
