Bradley Allen Buss

Bradley Buss entered this world on December 21, 1953 at the old French Hospital on Marsh St. in San Luis Obispo and grew up in Cayucos, CA. Much to his mom's amazement and terror Brad walked at six months old and running came right after. His childhood was spent running the beach and exploring the hills of Cayucos. Cayucos was so small at that time his mom could stand on the porch at their home on 19th street and use a whistle, Brad would hear it from near or far and hit the beach running for home. Brad attended Mission and Cayucos elementary schools, Coast Union High School and graduated from San Luis High School. He started as an automotive painters helper at 18 years of age, working at Crockett's Body Shop in Arroyo Grande and the old Colorglow on Monterey St. At 22 years old he was the youngest head painter at Kimball Motor Co. Brad worked there until Mr. Kimball closed the body shop down to start and RV business. Over the years Brad was the painter for many San Luis shops including; Jaguar's XKE, Ken's and Dale's body shops among others. At one shop the owner's daughter even entrusted Brad to paint her wicker bathroom furniture everytime she changed the décor. In the mid 80's when the economy was down and body shops were slow, Brad worked on an oil rig, and for an oil tank sandblasting co. He even spent some time painting guitars for Ernie Ball. Moving to the north county in the 90's Brad worked for Classic Coachwerks, Shere Nunes, and ended his career to his very last day at Davis Body Shop North on December 29, 2017. Whether it was a hotrod, classic or jalopy Brad always treated the car the same doing top quality work, which is why he could be driving down the freeway and recognize a car he painted 30 years ago. Over the years Brad taught many how to paint, some going on to start their own businesses. Whether it was a helper, detailer, bodyman, or owner Brad always had time and patience to help or explain or listen and learn. He truly was one of a kind. In his off time Brad loved to fish, barbque, listen to music, cruise in his favorite "Detroit" car, watch is beloved 49ers and Giants. He loved to laugh but most of all he loved to make others laugh. Brad loved the Lord and lived his life by the golden rule. There will be no services. Brad would want you to celebrate his life by hugging your loved ones and remembering always to laugh. Brad is proceded in death by his parents Raymond and Kathryn Buss, brothers Raymond and Philip and by two men he considered "Dads" Byron Westbrook and Kenneth Jordan. He leaves behind childhood love and wife of 38 years Ellen, sisters of his heart, Karen (Max), Wendy (Kirk), nieces, Cinder (Hairy), Lacie (Spencer), Kylee (Nathan) Loni Jo (Tim) and nephew Kenin. Grand nices Baylee and Brooke, grand nephews, Brody, Hunter Bradley, Axl, goddaughter Emily and feline son "Bo". Brad loved and cherished each one of them so much. Ellen especially wants to thank Wendy and Kirk Reis and their staff, Genine, Lisa Mae, and Michael for their love, help and caring. I'll see you in heaven babe, until then I'll see you in my dreams.
