Mrs. Beverly Joan Nunes

Beverly Joan Nunes entered eternal rest at the age of 73 on Saturday, August 31, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She endured a 16 month battle with cancer and fought to the very end. Beverly was a loving wife, mother, Ava and friend who will be deeply missed by all. Beverly was born in Bell, Ca in 1951 to John and Ella Lehmann and moved with her family at a young age to San Luis Obispo. Once there, she attended Mission Grammar School and graduated from Mission College High School in 1969. As a young girl, she loved spending time outdoors, skateboarding in downtown San Luis Obispo, swimming at Cal Poly, and exploring Bishop’s Peak and San Luis Mountain. Her parents owned two markets in SLO, Pioneer Market and Laurel Lane Market, for which she helped distribute weekly ads. Later in life, she worked as an Instructional Aide for San Luis Coastal Unified School District for over 20 years, which she found very fulfilling. Beverly had a strong Catholic faith, which she instilled in her family. She also instilled her faith in others by teaching Catechism at St Timothy’s Church in Morro Bay, where she seldom missed a Sunday Mass. In 1968, while peeking out the window of her family's Broad street home, Beverly caught the eye of a special someone, which sparked a love story that developed into 54 wonderful married years. In 1970, she married that special someone, and she and Albert spent their lives together raising their three children and embarking on many adventures including trips to the snow, camping, fishing, and rafting. Beverly’s true passion in life was always her family, especially her six grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Affectionately known as Ava, she was always there with a home cooked meal, a storybook, a smile, a joke, or much needed advice. She seldom missed an event if one of her grandchildren were involved. In her free time, which was rare, Beverly enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing. Many delicious dishes and jams were made from food harvested from her garden. She sewed Christmas stockings for many of her grandchildren, continuing a tradition started by her mother in law. She cherished time spent at the family cabin, hiking, fishing and spending time with family. She and Albert spent many weekends escaping to Monterey for car shows, festivals and sunsets.
