Janet Maria Crabb

It is with a broken heart and never-ending tears that I write that my beautiful wife Janet Crabb has taken the Hand of God and gone to heaven. Janet was the worlds most wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend to hundreds of students and other school staff. Janet was the best friend I could ever hope for. For over 25 years, we shared a special love that is hard to express. We would each know what the other would want without saying a word. We each had many friends, but we would rather spend time together than with anyone else. Our love for each other was stronger than any bond made in heaven or earth. She was the best stepmother that our three daughters, Katie, Kristie, and Kasey could ever hope for. Our five grandchildren, Elliott, Scarlett, Kash, Pippa, and Poppy loved her with all their hearts. Janet was so loving to them as she cooked, played with them, read to them, sewed with them, and showed them love like only Janet knew how to do. She loved her sister Bonnie, and her brother Arthur with all of her heart. She loved her niece Jessica as well. Her nephew Justin was very special to her. He treated her like a mother, and she treated him like a son. They always had a special bond. Janet was born to Frederick and Anna teVelde Bossenkool, who came to America from the Netherlands. She was a first-generation American in a wonderful Dutch family. Janet still has many relatives in the Netherlands. She would sometimes try to teach me Dutch words and laugh when I would try to repeat them to her. Janet worked at several jobs, but when she became a school secretary, she knew it was a job that she truly loved. She touched the lives of thousands of students and parents with her wonderful smile and loving nature. Many times, students would fake being sick just so they could come to the office to be with Mrs. Crabb. Many parents would come to my classroom just to tell me how wonderful she was, and how she brightened up their day with her beautiful smile when they came into the school office. Janet was not only a great school secretary, she was also an adult education teacher. Additionally, she was the union president for many years. She was well respected, and often she would help many of the other secretaries in the school district. Janet was also a wonderful singer and musician. I would love it when she would sit down at our piano and play Steely Dan songs, Disney songs, and I really loved it when she would play Christmas songs during the holidays. She played several instruments which made her an even more incredible person. Another skill she possessed was sewing. Over the years she made me more than 30 shirts. I have not worn any other shirts for years except my “Janet” shirts. I got to pick the fabric and buttons while she did all the magical work. I know Janet is up in heaven looking down trying to help me get through the hardest time in my life. She picked out our new home down in Apple Valley to be close to our family. She was always worrying about me, and I was always worrying about her. We also wanted to be closer to the City of Hope to get special help with the terrible cancer that we fought for 3 years. She was an incredible warrior fighting her cancer. She never gave up hope even after all the pain it caused her. She no longer has to go through the pain from chemo, radiation, surgeries, staying in the hospitals, and all of the other struggles she went through. She was the bravest person I have ever known. I love her so much. I talk to her all the time, and I feel her by my side. I feel her love and feel her hugs. It is so hard to miss my best friend, and the person who loved me more than anyone who came into my life. God bless you my Chunny Girl. I love you more than anyone will ever know. I will keep talking to you every day, and pray that we will be together again when God decides to take my hand and lead me to heaven. Janet’s memorial will be on September 25 th at 10am at Reis Mortuary in San Luis Obispo.
