Ernest R Zavala Sr

Ernest R. Zavala, Sr. was born in San Luis Obispo, California September 9, 1926 to Jose and Maria Zabala at home in the Section (Railroad Housing). He passed away peacefully June 3, 2017. Ernest is survived by four of his children, Guadalupe Oliveira, Linda Domenghini, Lisa Ferson-Zavala(Carole) and Ernest Zavala, Jr. (Debra), sisters; Alice Chaves and Mary Camacho, Brother, Joe Zavala. Grand Children: Lonnie Zavala (Anna); Gabriel Zavala (Stephine); Rebecca Rayner (Kenny); Michael Tanore (Jennifer); Maria Oiveira. Great Grand Children: Alisa Tanore, Anthony Tanore, Kai Zavala, Lonnie Tanore, Brody Rayner, Noe Zavala, Veda Zavala, Kingston Zavala, Maketta Zavala, Gracie Zavala, Levy & Garret Poe. Great Great Grand Child: Zoe Dusek. Preceded in death by his spouse, Clara Myers Zavala, parents Jose and maria Zavala, Brothers Edsel and Joaquin Zavala, daughter Rebecca Zavala and grandson Garrett Zavala. After attending Hawthorne Elementary, San Luis Junior High and San Luis Senior High, he worked for Montgomery Wards for a short time before he was drafted. Ernie served in the Army, was deployed from Camp Beal in 1944 and was shipped out from San Francisco. He served in the 81st Division Wildcats on the South Pacific Islands as a Runner. Mustered out at Ft. Lewis, WA in 1949. Upon his return he married Clara Myers in May of 1949 (deceased 2010). He went back to work for Coke a Cola, (a job which was held for him). Other employment, 1950 for L.J. Morganti, 1953 for Southern Pacific Railroad, 1965 Ray Dunlap, Lagomarcino Liquors, Dick Hawkins at Coors Beer, and then he retired from Cuesta College at age 65. Ernie enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years, hunting with his Uncle Louie, riding around the county in his Scout, dancing with his wife at DDD events, Mexican and Country music, drinking beer, watching TV and traveling anywhere in his camper with Clara. He spent many years enduring dialysis, it was his wish that donations be made to the Kidney Foundation. Our many thanks go out to Aurelia Hernandez, the care givers at Bob and Corky's homes, Central Coast Hospice, Dr. Brian Penton and DaVita for all the TLC that was received by our father. Military Honors graveside Memorial Service will be held at 9am, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park.
